POSH services for companies: frequently asked questions

Is POSH compliance mandatory for our company?

Yes. Under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, every workplace with 10 or more employees must constitute an Internal Committee, have a POSH policy, run regular POSH awareness trainings and file an annual report. This applies to private companies, startups, factories, hospitals, schools and NGOs alike.

What does an external member of the Internal Committee do?

Every Internal Committee must include an external member who is familiar with issues relating to sexual harassment. The external member brings independence and expertise to inquiries and committee decisions. Metier HR Services and HR Trainings provides experienced external members for companies' Internal Committees.

How often should we conduct POSH training for employees?

The POSH Act requires employers to organise workshops and awareness programmes at regular intervals, and orientation programmes for Internal Committee members. As per the law, most companies need to conduct POSH awareness trainings twice a year, and the number of trainings conducted is reported in the annual report.

What is the POSH Sensitized certification?

After a POSH awareness and sensitisation training for your employees, your company receives a POSH Sensitized certificate from Metier HR Services and HR Trainings, along with digital badges and logos you can use for employer branding, valid for the certificate period.
